About ASU’s School of Sustainability
ASU is home to the nation’s first School of Sustainability, where the focus finding answers to social, economic and environmental challenges. Through experiential education and research, students learn to examine problems systemically and implement solutions collaboratively.
The school offers undergraduate and graduate programs in person and online, and its alumni assume positions across industries, utilities, regulatory agencies, nonprofits, government and non-governmental organizations. The school is a unit of the College of Global Futures..

The Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation is the hub of ASU’s sustainability initiatives. The ASU Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation advances research, education and business practices for an urbanizing world. Its School of Sustainability, the first of its kind in the U.S., offers transdisciplinary degree programs to create practical solutions for environmental, economic, and social challenges.

ASU’s sustainability initiatives, spearheaded by the Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation, are advanced by the efforts of people and departments from across the university; leading sustainable practices are addressed and implemented in the areas of energy, water, buildings and grounds, carbon neutrality, food services, transportation, waste and recycling, and, purchasing and policies.
