Financial aid at ASU
When looking for information regarding both the cost of a degree in sustainability and financial aid resources at ASU, the ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services website is the best place to start. Types of aid for your green degree include scholarships, grants, loans and student employment.
Federal student aid
To be eligible for most types of financial aid, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA.
Scholarships and grants
In addition to the FAFSA, students in the School of Sustainability have access to apply for scholarships and project-based grants created for sustainability students. Students can also explore ASU’s Scholarship Portal for opportunities.
Entrepreneurship at ASU
Students looking to fund their sustainable ventures can also visit ASU’s J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute site for the wealth of opportunities that exist.
Many students find it convenient to work on campus while going to school. There are various types of student worker opportunities in the School of Sustainability as well as across ASU.
Graduate student employment
Graduate students admitted to the MA, MS and PhD research-based programs will automatically be considered for research and teaching assistantship (RA/TA) opportunities available through the School of Sustainability. Additionally, they may be nominated for fellowship opportunities by the school. After the first semester, MA, MS, MSUS and PhD students have the opportunity to apply for any remaining research and teaching assistantships, as well as fellowships. There are also frequently graduate service assistantship (GSA) opportunities open to graduate students, which are stipend-only (compared to RA/TA which have additional tuition benefits and sometimes a health insurance benefit).
Other graduate funding resources
ASU’s Graduate College Funding Opportunities site has additional information for students looking for more information about how to fund their education.
