Convocation is a special celebration, with tradition and symbolism that date back centuries in the history of higher education. "Convocation" means a gathering and in academics, College and cultural convocations are a time for smaller groups to gather and celebrate educational achievements.
The School of Sustainability Convocation is an exclusive ceremony that individually recognizes undergraduate and graduate candidates from the School of Sustainability. Graduates’ names are read as they cross the stage to receive personal congratulations from the School of Sustainability administration, faculty, staff and family.
Convocation Ceremony Instructions
Once you have RSVP'd through MyASU, the School of Sustainability will receive confirmation of your participation in the ceremony along with your degree information.
Per the requirements of Gammage Auditorium, tickets are required for this event. Please make sure that you have picked up your tickets and if your RSVP numbers have changed, please let us know by sending an email to sosgraduation@asu.edu.
All graduates should plan on arriving at Grady Gammage Auditorium at the shop entrance located on the East Ramp (facing Forest Avenue) at least one hour prior to the ceremony. Please be on time. Family and friends will not be allowed in the backstage area and should proceed to the main auditorium. You should ask your guests to watch over any personal items.
When you arrive at Gammage on the day of the event, please check in at the sign in table. You will be directed to a staging area for further information. Upon your arrival you will be given your reader card with your name on it. Please verify that the information on the card is correct. This card will be given to the person reading names at the ceremony.
