Activities at ASU During Focus the Nation Week
Teach-In (1/28 - 2/1)
You can participate in the teach-in by incorporating global warming
discussions into your classes on, or during the week of January
31st. If you're a student, ask your instructor to incorporate
discussions into your class. We'd like to track ASU's impact,
so please send an e-mail to schoolofsustainability@asu.edu to
report your class or campus activity.

Vote for Global Warming Solutions Online (1/21 - 2/12)
As a key part of Focus the Nation, students and citizens across
the country will vote on five priorities for action. Focus teams
will deliver this campus and citizen endorsed agenda to congressional
offices across the nation, on February 18th, when members of congress
are back in their districts for the Presidents Day recess.

Focus the Campus: Student Lunch (1/28)
Large Tent, Student Services Lawn (11:45am - 1:00pm)
Students can kick off Focus the Nation Week with a lunch to learn
more about what ASU is doing and how students can get involved.
Speakers include: Jonathan Fink, Julie Ann Wrigley Director of
the Global Institute of Sustainability and University Sustainability
Officer; Bonny Bentzin, Manager, University Sustainability Business
Practices; and sustainability-related student groups. Sponsored
by the Global Institute of Sustainability and Arizona Public Interest
Research Group (PIRG).

Webcast: The 2% Solution (1/30)
Global Institute of Sustainability, Tempe Center, Room 158 (6:00pm)
Join the Global Institute of Sustainability for a viewing of "The
2% Solution". The National Wildlife Federation, organizers of
Focus the Nation (www.focusthenation.org) has chosen ASU as the
only school to be featured in this web cast (http://www.focusthenation.org/2percentsolution.php),
which will have an audience of over 1,000 universities, schools,
and community groups. ASU has been asked to provide a 4-minute
video that will showcase our Focus the National Day and also tell
the larger story about Sustainability at ASU. The segment will
come after a focused discussion about the "The 2% Solution" (reducing carbon
emissions 2% every year to reach an 80% reduction by 2050), led
by Van Jones, and Hunter Lovins, Stephen Schneider.

Focus the Nation - The Big Day (Thursday, January 31st)
Hayden Lawn (10:00am - 3:00pm)
- Flashlight tours at the ASU Art Museum (8:30am - 12:30pm)

the Nation

Lecture (4:00pm) in Life Sciences Center, LSE-104
Speakers: Sir Peter Crane, the John and Marion
Sullivan University Professor at the University of Chicago;
and Thomas E. Lovejoy, President of the Heinz Center. They
will present "The Future of Biodiversity". This Wrigley Lecture
is co-hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences, Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic
Affairs and ecoSERVICES.
