Degree Program:
PhD in Sustainability
Other Degrees:
BA in International Relations and minor in Latin American Studies, University of British Columbia, 2006
Research Interests:
My objectives as a PhD student are primarily to pursue the institutional and decision-making components of the sustainability concept, understood as sort of metaethic of responsibility, a perspective or value system replete with global concerns of human and environmental justice and well-being. I study institutional arrangements, decision-making practices, and relationships with different “knowledge producers” at various scales and venues, and consider ways in which these might be improved to facilitate better long-term “harmony” of the coupled human-environment system. With a window into how different communities perceive their relationship with nature, and the diversity of contexts within which decisions are made, I ultimately will be a resource for these processes, facilitating highly collaborative, inclusive, and integrative engagements.
